About the vintage

Syrah (Shiraz)

It is a world variety, but contrary to popular legend it is not of Middle Eastern origin (assumed Persian based on the Iranian city of Shiraz), but of southern French origin, its homeland is the Rhône Valley (more precisely, the area around Isère, Grenoble). It typically produces a tannic, structured wine, with aromas reminiscent of black berries and pepper, but there are numerous examples of both slimmer (Old World) and thicker, fuller (New World). It is grown on 270 ha in Hungary.
